i just finished up reading through ray bradbury’s classic novel fahrenheit 451 for the first time since i read it in high school…it’s amazing how much more you’re able pick up when you’re not being forced to read and you don’t have to worry about assignments due the next day…plus having a few years of maturity and knowledge under your belt definitely helps…this time through i picked up two major themes…i’m sure there are countless others that you may pick up…the book is pretty deep and definitely has connotations to life back in the 50’s when bradbury wrote it…but it also has some applications for us here in the 21st century as well…and not really how michael moore would like to think it does…i’m glad bradbury is suing him for copying the title…i’m sure moore thinks his movie is somehow up to par with bradbury’s work…but then again moore as always been prone to wishful thinking…

alright, so as i promised here’s a batch of pics from cali that dan took with his pda (thus the quality of them are quite low)…he took like 200…so basically he captured every waking moment of the trip…i whittled them down to a measly 24…but coupled with the pics from my previous entry this should give you a pretty well-rounded look at the trip…if you even care at all…regardless…here they are…i’m taking advantage of my premium service dang it…

lately i’ve been seeking to find something to breath new life into my currently dismal record playing device…you know…with that one band (or artist) that makes you love music again…those songs that just seem to strike a chord in your soul somehow…i’ve searched high and low hoping to find something to make my ears perk up and take heed like they did so long ago…well…i think i may have just happened upon that band…they go by the name “letter kills” and their new cd is called “the bridge”…they just seem to have the right combination of all that i find good in music currently…a great lead singer nearly screaming melodies over driving rhythms…soaring metal-esque leads…a whole load of gang vocals…anthematic slow songs placed in just the right spots…it’s just good stuff…now i’m not going to say the coined phrase “go out and support these guys and get their cd”…because well…i just downloaded it and would feel bad telling you that especially when their album isn’t even out yet…but if you get the chance to check them out…i would most certainly advise it…

there is a strange new freshness to life…is it the fact that we’re in the midst of summer and i’m giddy with glee because of it? the fact that six:forty is switching to a new (and far superior location)? is it my new parking space at work? or have i just become inebriated by the bag of dark chocolates that i have been gnawing on all day? maybe it’s better off a mystery…

i’m back from the excursion to the west coast…and oh was it glorious…i am in love with it out there…not so much in love with everything being 5 times the price than everywhere else in the us (except new york and hawaii…and maybe florida…and well…everywhere but ohio…and wyoming)…but that’s just the price of love i guess…
